Darjeeling produces the most prestigious Indian teas on its 20 000 hectares of plantations situated in the foothills of the Himalayas. Grown in the altitude (up to 2 300 meters), the tea is often referred to as the « Champagne of Teas ». The First Flush (FF) is lively and delicate with white fruit notes. The FF harvest takes place from the middle of March to the end of April and represents 20% of the harvest. The Second Flush (SF) is harvested from the middle of May to the end of June and has more pronounced Muscat and ripe fruit notes. The SF harvest represents about 25% of the entire harvest. The Autumn Flush (AF) harvest starts in October and ends late November. The AF harvest represents approximately 7% of the annual production of Darjeeling and has very round notes.
