Like Chai Yi, Taichung is a prestigious center for the production of oolongs. The plantations are locates in the eastern extremity of the district in a very mountainous region. The best known, the Li Shan or otherwise called « the king of teas », is cultivated between 1600 and 2600 meters of altitude (world record for altitude) in ideal conditions (light fog, sun...). This region produces fresh, thirst quenching teas with exceptional flowery and lemony flavours. Another tea produced in this district is the Gao Shan Cha: very lightly fermented and comparable to the Tie Guan Yin with white flower aromas, honey and vanilla flavours.
