The Island of Formosa produces about 20 000 tons of tea per year which is cultivated in altitudes ranging from 400 to 2 000 meters with the highest point being 2 400 meters. The qualities are very varied and rich and most specialists consider that Formosa produces the most remarkable wulongs. Formosa also produces several green teas (Sencha, Long Jing) and black (Tarry Lapsang Souchong).
